Transit

I don’t know if airport is the best place to write a fresh blog post. But here I am, with nothing really more interesting than this, using Dubai airport’s phokat internet typing away to glory.

I have always been jealous of these business class passengers, their seats are so awesome in the plane, and they are called in before anyone else…sigh…hope one day my company would also send me on those tickets!

After two weeks of living out of the suitcase with my travel plans delayed, am finally mid-way in my journey. Last few days have been filled with anticipation, nervousness and excitement…

Ah…the boarding call has come…the post has to be stopped now!

RIP – Canon Powershot A540

It is not only the living who are killed in war. – Isaac Asimov

Okay there is no war to report here, just wondering if my Canon Powershot would ever win a war against any DSLR. I have finally migrated to a new camera, the Singapore trip (travelogue still a Work in Progress) was the last trip it would have covered. Post my last weekend’s trip to Delhi I have finally picked up my Canon Rebel XSi, thus forcing the Powershot A540 into retirement.

The Point and Shoot had been a great travel companion for 5 years, while people expect very less from Point and Shoots, I believe it gave me more value that a normal user would  probably extract. We both knew each other very well, and the expectations of imagery and results were never disappointing.

Do visit the last trip of the Powershot here> http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=293981&id=739720624&l=be66eebf8e

Am still trying to find my way around the DSLR, the truth is that we both are still not in the rythm. I am still learning the ropes and understand how to use the camera. I know the Rebel will outsmart the Powershot by miles, but we aren’t friends yet…it’ll still be sometime till the Rebel takes the place of the Point ‘n’ Shoot. It may sound silly but understanding to use a device is akin to having a relationship with one.

Thank you Powershot A540 for eternalizing some great moments of my life. You shall not be forgotten!

Down but not out!

Down but not out!
I guess that’s the dictum for the average Mumbaikar and I guess for DonateYourPC.in too!

After almost a fortnight of DYPC being down, we have been struggling with the website hosting provider but to no avail. It seemed that our provider can be a Harvard Case Study in provide little or no service! Needless to stay it took a lot of our time, energy and became a living hell to put the website back on.

However, we finally took a call and now are back on our feet again with a new service provider. In addition to this we are also going to raise a CORE complaint on the web hosting provider’s apathy towards our needs and total lack of customer service.

…and they all fall down!

The recent spur in declarations of US Finance majors like Freddie Mac, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch has worsened the bourses across the globe. Probably this is not a great time to do MBA but we took a chill pill and joked about it..here are the ones we cooked up…for MBAs and otherwise

A Finance MBA graduate for a job interview was asked about his summer job. He replied ‘Sir, I did my internship in the i-banking division of Merry Lynched…sorry to say but that company’s a part of history books!

Dude! Lets buy a brand…i wanna buy Lehman brand, I have the cash right here. Know what! I would start a restaurant with that name afterall this brand has recieved a lot of publicity last week. The menu would offer Freddie MacBurger, Merrill Fries and a bottle of Lehman 0 calories drink for free.

There were days when i-banks like Lehman and Merrill looked to buy…and now are the days they look for buyers!

Nobody wants to marry an i-banker now! Their firms are bust and their credit ratings are dust. Oops S&P ratings can be defective!

Though times are ahead…lets just wait and watch.
